Michael Punter: Dramatist and Teacher
“Punter not only writes beautifully and intelligently, but he plays on the very idea of language”
(The Guardian on The Wolves)
Hello and welcome to my site.
My work has been staged at leading theatres including the National Theatre, Hampstead Theatre, Birmingham Rep, Salisbury Playhouse, and the Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds and toured by companies such as Paines Plough and Pop Up children's theatre. I have also had work produced by BBC Radio Drama and I am presently developing a major UK television project.
I’ve adapted Greek comedies for large casts and produced a number of site-specific works. I love developing new performance projects with my students at CAPA The Global Education Network in London and alongside BFA Actors from the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis. We’ve recently staged projects on the themes of Theatre and Human Rights and Borders and Migration and interactive versions of Milton’s Paradise Lost and Chaucer’s The Canterbury Tales!
I’m a passionate writer with a strong interest in the power of ideas, poetry and in developing new work for young people and new audiences. My Playwriting courses have proved popular with students from the UK, US and across the world.
On this site you can read my latest news and browse my catalogue of works. I hope you enjoy your visit. Please contact me via this site for details of teaching and workshops. For commissions, TV and theatre please contact my agent Manon Palmer: firstname.lastname@example.org
