I taught the Playwriting course at Royal Holloway University of London for 10 years, from 2004-’14, winning the Apple For Teacher award in 2010 for An Outstanding Contribution to the Student Experience. A number of my students have gone on to have work produced or to make their careers in the Education or Literary departments of leading theatres.
I have mentored MA students at Central School of Speech and Drama in London and taught classes in theatre for students from Colgate University, New York and the University of Minnesota. I have advised the UK’s National Theatre on Classics for the Young, as well as contributing to Contemporary Theatre Review.
I am available to read scripts and to advise on creative projects. My fee for reading a full-length play (80 minutes – 2 hours stage time) and submitting a 1000 word report to its author is currently £95 plus VAT. Please contact me via the site for current availability and turnaround time. I also offer bespoke writing workshops for all kinds of groups. Prices on application.
I have a First Class degree in English and Theatre Studies from the University of Warwick, an MA in Renaissance Literature and Drama from the University of Sussex and a PhD in Victorian Theatre, specializing in the career of actor-manager Henry Irving, from Royal Holloway College, University of London. I also have a PGCE teaching qualification from Brighton University.
I am currently Director of Theatre Education for CAPA International Education based in London.
